Civics test practice for the naturalization interview
People search for a civic exam test, a civics exam practice test, and civics test practice questions because the interview is oral and the list is long. This site splits that list into short mock tests. You answer one question, check it, and see every accepted answer. The score is saved in your browser.
Pick the list that matches your filing date
Use the 2025 civics test if you file Form N-400 on or after October 20, 2025. Use the 2008 civics test if you filed before that date. Studying the wrong list is the most common way to waste practice time. The 2025 guide and the 2008 guide spell out the length and the passing score.
2025 mock tests
Seven tests, 20 questions each, 12 correct to pass. Tests 1 through 6 cover questions 1–120. Test 7 covers the last 20 questions, including 121–128.
2008 mock tests
Ten tests, 10 questions each, 6 correct to pass. Together they cover all 100 questions in order.
Practice out loud, too
The real civics test is not a bubble sheet. After a mock test, use flashcards and answer before you flip. Read the full list on all questions when you want to see every accepted wording.
Common questions
- The civics test is the history and government portion of the naturalization interview. It is not a written multiple-choice exam. You study an official list of questions, and the officer asks you some of them. This site turns that list into citizenship test practice you can repeat.
- No. At the interview you answer out loud. There is no A-B-C-D sheet. The mock tests on this site use choices so you can practice alone and see right or wrong after every question. Flashcards are closer to the real interview, because you say the answer before you flip the card.
- Study the official list for your version, not a random quiz from memory. The 2025 list has 128 civics questions. The 2008 list has 100. Both lists, plus the answers that change, are published by USCIS. This site repeats those questions in mock tests, flashcards, and a searchable list.
- A mock test is a short civics exam practice test made from the official questions. The 2025 version has 7 mock tests of 20 questions, and 12 correct answers is a pass on that practice test. The 2008 version has 10 mock tests of 10 questions, and 6 correct answers is a pass. Together, the mock tests cover the question bank.
- USCIS can give you a second chance to take the part you failed. The timing and the rules are in the USCIS Policy Manual, and they can change. This site cannot tell you the outcome of your case. If you fail a practice test here, retake it. The score stays on this device so you can see whether you improved.
